Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake: Review

Author: Kendare Blake
Reading level: Young Adult
Genre: Paranormal

Summary: Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: he kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill.
Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead---keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of ordinary:move, hunt, kill. When he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian house she used to call home.

But she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

THOUGHTS: Quick story, the first month of school, (i think? i don't really remember) i had the highest grade in my math class but because of this book, everything i worked hard for... disintegrate. Okay, the thing is, i was in the good part of this book! and so when we had a quiz, i took it for FIVE MINUTES(in case you're wondering, i guessed, obviously!) just to read this book! After that, my math teacher got mad at me for failing the test. I apologized to her the next day. But that not the point. The point is, THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS!!!

Anyways, This book is basically about this guy named Cas, who kills dead people--Ghost to be precise--to continue his father's legacy. He then avoid having friends and getting attached to them because for him, those are just his second priority next to killing Ghosts.

And then there's Anna, Anna Dressed in blood, Who kills everyone who sets foot on her hunted house. But for some Strange reason, She spares his life. (I'm not gonna lie, but at first, i thought the love story between a ghost and a human is just strangely Weird)
After reading this, i Shrieked my lungs out! I mean seriously, the chemistry between them is just Amazing! and The book itself is clearly B-R-E-A-T-H-T-A-K-I-N-G!

"Anna dressed in blood is easily one of my favorite books of all time and is exactly what i'd hope it would be: gorgeous, brutal, heartbreaking, merciless, and cool as hell. This is the kind of book i've been dying too read!" --Courtney Allison Moulton, author of Angelfire

Hourglass by Myra McEntire: Review

Author: Myra McEntire
Reading level: Young Adult
Genre: Paranomal/fantasy
Summary: For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn't there: swooning Southern belled; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents' death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. she's tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called hourglass, Emerson's willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not change only her future, it may also change her past.

THOUGHTS: This Book is clearly one of my favorites! I don't know why or what but its just is! Okay, Where do i start? right, the plot. So basically, the story is about Time traveling, Ripples, and paranormal things--which by far is very original. As for the main protagonist, Emerson Cole, who is a kick-ass-sarcastic-blonde-chick, i think she's just perfect! and Michael weaver, charming yet dark and mysterious man, i think he's beyond perfect. The chemistry between him and Emerson is just too beautiful. (makes my heart ache!) This book is just A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Final Thoughts:

after reading this book, i thought i was infatuated with Michael Weaver! i mean, who wouldn't be!? and then i stare deeply in to the ceiling, flashing back all those scenarios in my head, over and over.
Amazingly written, that is all i can say. and as Beth Revis, the author of across the universe says, "Pull your heart in every direction. A brand-new twist on time travel with an explosively delicious romance"
